Excellent review.

I will watch the movie. Years ago I refused to watch it.

Your observation that it shows very realistic shooting up scenes. For me this is to be applauded, and the more real the better. By the way, as I think you allude to, there are some excellent documenatries that show it up close and dirty.

I think it's worth stating that this desperation the film depicts, the 'degredation' as you point out can be a little rough. But! The fact that today, right now, what happened in Needle Park is to be found every where these days, the actual thing.

Would that it were restricted to dirty, desolate parks but no, in real life these scenes are playing out across America, everywhere.

No one is safe. This can be found in the basements of a beautiful, central Illinois soy farm, to the beaches of Miami and of course to the countless grimy corners found in every US city across the nation. Worse than ever.
