Count 'em, ten.

That's my system. When I first started with Medium I too single clapped. I read a post, maybe the one you read that one clap was paltry and perhaps insulting. So rarely will I clap less than my ten.

Every once in a blue moon I can't help myself and I clap like a mad person, way past ten.

But ten for me represents all that you listed. One: for showing up with the guts to display your innards to an unknown public.

two: Quality is a mixed bag for me and yes, complicated. Ten claps from me is a sterling applause for job well done.
