Just kidding of course. My first born of six boys I was still programmed to do as my fifties era parents did: use the damn belt. The kid can take it and believe me it will shut him up.

But! At what cost to the kid and to you? Yes there is trauma.

So like your good suggestions come up with alternatives. I like yours. In my case I usually 'talked the kid down'. Yes. This is doable. Not always . There are some real hard nuts out there I've watched them in the park and my heart goes to the parents.

I want to tell them, 'hey lady, just take a rolled magazine to her butt, that'll settle her down'. Then I remember, hell after my first I never touched them.
