Hi George,

It really does come down to that old Dylan tune whose lyrics: the times they are a changing…sort of say it all. There’s just no pretty way to look at it. As we age we grow less and less efficient and we lose that graceful rhythm we took for granted. Hell, I was even invulnerable.

As with most things in reality it will come down to each of us finding the ways through the ever more confusing labyrinths. Some of us have become proficient at seeking help, we ask, hey how do I do that. Those of us that don’t boldly ask will be just a little further behind on the 8 ball.

This could go on forever. But just two more. Time. Time is something we can become usefully familiar with. We can almost measure out our lives, what remains of it, determine to certain degree what we’d like to get out of the time remaining. List the things we need to be good at so we can satisfactorily navigate the time left in our hour glass.

Finally, meditate, every damn day. Not to seek Nirvana but to help accept that which we will never understand. Absolutely! As we age the world will scream right past us, accept this to a practical extent. Meditation can put us on the fast track of acceptance with dignity. This is very different from acceptance due to defeat, failure and the resulting toxic mind frame that gets so many of us. Try it.

I’ve even had young ones come to me on rare ocasion to ask, why do you seem so at ease, so composed. I tell them it’s because the calm and acceptance which meditation gives one gives one a noticeable glow.

We need all the help and tips we can get our hands on. Time. Figure this truth out sooner than later amigo. Jagger put it so adequately when he sang, time waits for no one…
