Boy! Could I tell some stories of this really happening.

Having lived most of my life in Central America and worked in hotels you get an up and close look!

I wish I had five bucks for every gringo who ditched most everything to find his señorta.

Almost always, repeat, almost always end in a mess.

Either the poor gringo gets chased out of town by the señoritas family. Or the lady, no fool herself, takes the sucker for every penny, then threatens his life if he keeps hassling her.

Don't get me wrong. I have witnessed and been present at happy marriage events between men from the US and their Latin pair. Lasted years, are still intact. In my opinion some of the most powerful marriages I've ever seen.

Then there's the guy who comes to this part of the world with dreams in his eyes and all his money in his pocket. Unfortunately word gets around there's a slick talking gringo and before you know it he's been relieved of every cent and wondering how the hell he's going to get back to Montana.. Can be sad.
