Allow me to be the first response. No pun intended, not even trying to be funny...

It saddens me to see this current drive to get rid of the police. Yes am I aware this can get me into hot water. I've lived my life in 'the' hot water so I don't care. Go ahead. Get rid of the people in blue and stand back or run like hell, because if you think it's bad now, you ain't seen nothing yet!

I'm from latin America and have seen what a lack of police protection can result in: deadly and total chaos.

Yes, are there bad apples, damn right, just as there are rotten teachers, rotten politicians (by the droves), rotten business people (by the legions), rotten lawyers, shrinks, mechanics, on and on. So it only makes sense that there are lousy cops.

Worth saying that these dedicated people that are risking there lives for us, for what? Ever surveyed thier salaries? Why do they do it?
