Hi Sean
Thought crunching as always. Yet another two or three more reasons to forever swear off nike, geez…
Although i need the solid evidence of the when and how of nike using child labor it doesn’t surprise me too much. My theory Sean (most of my working life was spent in Central America), is that when a money tree (money forrest) like nike can and usually do get away with it, child labor) they never miss the opportunity.
Nature of the beast. After all as if this needed reminding, they’re in it for money. The nikes of the world will all too often grab the money! Some of these youth working opportunities just may not be the worst thing that vould happen to these kids! Gasp gasp! I know that’s trouble for me… But if more people lived in Central America theyd see what i mean. These factory jobs are litterally life ssvers!
Having said that its safe to say that when nike sets up production in the 3rd world and they commit the fatally flawed mistake of not hiring conscientious management/local ownership this ‘’abuse’ is almost guaranteed. A lack of caring for employees well being as a result of hiring ‘ cheaper and low grade culture’ , managers who dont care about the rank and file employees result in a sort of misery you describe.
Anyway the more who are made awsre of this the better
T
