Hi Zulie,
Having been a 'nomad' most of my life I can relate. Even though my nomadism hasn't been the result of a concerted effort born from the desire to move about. For me the moving around was, is more due to necessity. This perhaps disqualifies me as a pure nomad. Regardless, Ive moved around more than most and due primarily because of financial reasons.
Still, I relate easily to your points raised.
Over the years I've concluded that to find value from roaming place to place one has to integrate.
Key word. If one doesn't integrate, one does not know the lay of the land. This was something I learned from less than happy experience.
There have been studies done, (of course), on people who travel to places for certain length of time. Let's say for a year's stay.
It seems that key to finding joy and happiness in ones chosen destination is measured by the degree to which one has in fact 'gone native'.
To summarize: the more one integrates, the more one experiences increased value. It all comes down to human-to-human encounter.
Really though when you think on it a bit, this should come as no surprise.
It's kind of like marriage...
Thanks for the thought-provoking piece.
