Irony has certainly been a conundrum in my writing life.

Quite simply I’ve failed to grasp fully the meaning of the word as a result of my disinclination to study it and understand it!
Pure and simple.
Your nicer than I am about why people fail to use irony correctly.
I guess it’s because i get a different perspective: that of one who simply refused to understand the word.
All those years ago, that (ill?) fated day when Mr Brownlee, my English teacher chose that day to teach us the meaning of irony.
