Thanks Sean,
Many top writers don’t answer responses. I do get it though. A top writer is obviously very busy. Your good effort at commenting on your responses is appreciated.

My volume of published stuff is a mere fraction of yours so my naysayers and thoughtless responders are thankfully close to zero. Do I work to keep that low rate of ire from my readers? I confess this is the case. Believe me, it would be so easy for me to make waves, oh god, so easy.

One of several toothy responders came from a sister in law. She a self appointed arbiter on practically everything but highlighted by politics and women’s rights, all of them even some still not in the public’s eye! Briefly: thanks to her I discovered I am a full blown misogynist. My story was about a secretary (female) from hell I inherited many, many years ago.

My sis in law took major issue and dragged out the major guns on me.

Apparently one can’t write about a hybrid, negative soul in your work place if this person happens to be female. I responded with the same degree of invective. My mistake. But the experience was a wake up call for me. Simply: some hassles just aren’t worth the energy and time.

As a result I now am very careful. Has it impacted my writing quality, not so sure. But definitely not worth the heart and gut ache. Lesson learned? Oh hell, I guess. But in my case it has more to do with maintaining my top drawer relation I enjoy with my big brother who I’d crawl over a pebbly mile to avoid trouble with him.

This may the seem strange to you Sean: absolutely, top writers such as yourself almost have an added duty, call it your cross if pinning a literate sort of feel to it helps, to on occasion let loose barrages of very welcome, clearing the room words setting the record straight to too many bull shitters and obnoxious word slingers.

They need to be brought down a notch or two lest everyone actually start buying into their misguided ranting.

Thanks again

T
