Seems to me there's a direct correlation between anticipation of death, timely or otherwise and our ability to feed ourselves. Goes without saying that the wealthiest and socially awakened economies enjoy a higher bar before unsettling concern over death becomes a major issue. Age will adjust the stress levels over anticipation of our date with the grim reaper.
